Wedding FAQ

How much does a wedding cake cost? TOP
Every wedding cake is different, and many factors determine the final price. An average price is $5.00 per person for a cake or $2.50 per person for cupcakes, although based on your final cake design you might find that your cakes costs slightly more or less than that. Of course, the sky is the limit, and there is no limit to how expensive a truly one of a kind, extravagant, pull out all the stops cake can be.

What does that price include ? TOP

That price will include a private consultation with Amy, where you can taste as many flavors of cake that interest you, look through our portfolios, and together we can design your cake.

Your cake will be freshly baked from scratch, then built into four layer cakes (i.e. 4 layers of cake, 3 layers of filling in each tier for a more elegant presentation when cut and plated), and decorated personally by Amy. Most decoration is included in that price.

You may choose any flavor, and as many different flavors as you like, there is no added charge. It will be delivered* and set up personally by Amy or Carl.

In order to provide this level of personalized service, we strictly limit the number of wedding cakes we will accept bookings for each day.

*delivery within 20 miles.

What does that price NOT include? TOP

Extensive decoration, intricate design, and elaborate decoration may cost slightly more.

Additions of Rolled Fondant, handmade sugar flowers and other sugar decorations (shells, lace, etc) or organic edible fruits and flowers will be additional.

Delivery distances beyond 25 miles are $1.50 mile, based on one way distance. Deliveries over 1 hour are also subject to an additional $15.00 per hour charge.

My wedding is far from you, is there a limit to far far you will deliver? TOP
Suprisingly, no! We love to travel, and have a lot of experience bringing cakes for long distances. If you are willing to pay the delivery fee, we will be there. We have delivered as far as New York City (and the bride told us that even with the delivery fee we were less expensive than local bakeries), to the Northern Kingdom in Vermont, and regularly deliver to Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Maine

Ok, but my wedding is REALLY far away, now what? TOP

For distances over 300 miles, we will fly to your location to create your cake. Price is dependant on your location, but anticipate the cost to include a price of approximately $4.25 per person for the cake, round trip plane tickets for 2, and 2 days hotel.

You can also order undecorated cake layers to have a local decorator finish for you, via Mail Order. If you would like more information, please send us an email or call us directly at the bakery at 978.388.6644

How soon should I make a consultation appointment? TOP

As mentioned before, we strictly limit the number of wedding cakes we will produce per day. Sometimes very popular weekends can book up far in advance. Whenever you feel you are ready to meet, please call and make your consultation.

Unfortunately, we cannot "save" dates without a deposit. Some brides choose to put down a "good faith" deposit before they come in for the consultation to book the date so there is no chance of it not being available. If you would some information on that option, call Amy at the bakery at 978.388.6644.

What should I be doing before my appointment? TOP

Look at pictures of cakes whenever you get a chance. Think about what you like and what you don't like. Would you like a tiered cake, a cake with pillars, a cake with different shapes like square, hexagon, octagon, heart, or even a combination of different shapes?

Think about the things that are making your wedding unique - perhaps your invitations have a special design, or you are using flowers with special significance. Maybe you are getting married in a special place, or you would like to incorporate the design of your dress into your cake.

What should I bring to my consultation? TOP

You don't need to bring anything (except maybe your appetite!) but some things you may want to bring are pictures of cakes you like, as well as cakes you hate!

Bring pictures of anything you want to incorporate into the design: Color swatches, pictures of flowers, dress, rings, invitations or anything else that you want.

Bring the basic information for your reception, such as dates, times, vendor phone numbers and contact person names.

We are on a tight budget, how can we save money? TOP

We want to help everyone enjoy a Hippie Chick wedding cake on their special day, and we can help you design a cake that not only is delicious and beautiful, but is in your budget (after all, we planned a wedding once too!)

There are many suggestions we can make to give you several price options. A common one is to have a smaller display cake and what we call "backup" cakes - cakes that the kitchen cuts and serves that are not as intricately decorated.

We LOVE to barter - do you, or someone you can coerce, have a skill that you can offer in trade? A vacation home to let us use? A passion for thankless manual labor? We are always looking for something, give us a call and see what we can work out. (any person doing work on our property must be licensed and/or insured as required by law)
here are some of the things we are currently looking for:
Tile installation
Electrical work
Plumber
Fence Installation
Gravel drive installation
Brick/stone work
Don't let this list limit you, although we are not currently interested in web design or photography, thanks!

We have booked a function site that includes the cake as part of our package. Do I have any options? TOP

Are you unhappy with the decorating options available from the bakeries associated with your package? Do you require a cake to accomodate a special dietary need?

Most times it is possible to work out something with your reception site, the first thing to do is talk to them. Many times they will let you choose a different bakery, giving you a "credit" towards a cake from a different bakery. If you need assistance, we will be happy to contact your site to discuss the matter.

What kinds of allergies can you accomodate? TOP

The first thing we tell everyone dealing with allergies, in most cases we use these ingredients in the bakery, and while we take every precaution to avoid cross-contamination, there is always the chance. Please look at our allergy information page for more details. We strongly encourage anyone with questions or concerns to call us beforehand, so we can help you decide if we are the bakery for you.

That being said, we have created cakes that were: Dairy-free, Egg-free, Gluten-free, Corn-free, Nut-free, Peanut-free, Sugar-free, Soy-free, and more. If you would like more information or have questions, just let us know.
